You skip down the hallway, swinging your pass around on your hand and taking your sweet time. You walk into the bathroom and notice other people are already in there. What’s with the dirty looks? Oh, you interrupted their conversation.
Almost every time I go to the bathroom, there is a group of people already in there having a conversation, and half the time none of them are even using the bathroom. The bathroom isn’t my ideal place to have a conversation, but whatever, we don’t judge here. If you want to have a conversation in a nasty bathroom where people walk in on you and actually use the bathroom, then let your freak flab fly.
What irritates me are the looks I get when I go into the bathroom actually intending to use it for its original purpose. I get dirty looks every time I ‘interrupt’ someone’s conversation. The longer you stay in the bathroom though, the worse it gets. When people give you a dirty look for walking into the bathroom, it’s like they expect you to leave. Sorry, I still have to use the bathroom.
Then, after you head into the stall, they continue their conversation, which is often completely too personal to have in a public bathroom, especially when there are other people in there. But whatever, if you don’t mind other people knowing your business, that’s cool. But then when you’re actually doing your business, they get mad at you for peeing while they’re trying to have a private conversation. Umm…last I checked, this was still a public restroom.
Then, you come out and start washing your hands, and the entire time they’re giving you death glares. I like to be hygienic, and I’m not going to leave just because you feel I’m intruding. Then, when you’re finally done and you leave the bathroom to head back to class, you hear them talking about how rude you were. I can’t. I just can’t even. It’s a public restroom!
