Hey guys,
Today I’d like to talk about probably one of the most convenient but annoying inventions that have ever been created. Group chats. I mean, why not, I’m in like 3 of them. I kind’ve get the best of both worlds with these things. You got the: if you’re lazy like me and would rather text people all at once to ask a quick question group chat or probably the: oh, I have a big group of friends so let’s just create a group chat for no reason.
I understand how it can make some things a bit easier, but boy *queue small hand gesture* are they super annoying when it comes to notifications. I think some of my fellow iPhone users can agree with me on this one. The dang red notification bubble that pops up over the messaging icon is THE. WORST. You can change it to do not disturb, but it doesn’t rid of the red circles that tell me I have 50 million unread text messages. I refuse to turn the badge app icon off in the settings because I need to know when someone is texting me about something important. Back to do not disturb; it stops your phone from making noises but does not get rid of my worst enemy… the red bubble.
Okay, we need to go over the actual issues with it not my little annoyances that surround it. I find myself in that one random group chat with a large number of people really intense. There is always at least two different conversations going on and I’m one of those people who like to keep quiet until something interesting happens. When I go into the chat just to get rid of “the dang red notification bubble”, I could read most of the on going conversation and see what’s up, but I’d rather not go through about 240 messages. More issues with them include the fear of spamming someone with your nonsense and funny memes, being ignored, or being spammed yourself (what you should expect when being in one). If any of you people understand what I’m going through the only advice I have for you is to keep on truckin’ because at least for me it’s either deal with that or feel left out because you don’t have any other people to talk to because you’re a sad bean.
To sum up my thoughts, I hate the notifications, but I use group chats to stay in touch with my friends and be social in general.. I’d also like to add that I asked the large group chat I’m in what peeves they have about the whole thing. How ironic, I came here to complain about them, but I guess I’m getting used to it.
