You open the door, and you are instantly attacked. There are flailing bodies all around you, and you desperately search for an escape route. There isn’t one. You are stuck going through the door at the same time as people going the opposite direction. You must conquer the mob.
One thing I absolutely hate while walking the halls of Fivay is when people go through the wrong door when I am trying to go somewhere. I cannot tell you how many times I have opened a door to walk through just to be met with an angry, blood thirsty mob of people out to destroy and trample me coming through it while the other door remains closed.
Dear students of Fivay, I do not open the door for you to walk through it; I open the door so I can walk through it. Just because a door is open, that doesn’t mean you have to use it. How much energy does it take for you to simply open the other door?
Trying to go in or out of a door while other people going the opposite way are using it is extremely difficult and honestly ridiculous. Why can’t people just use the right door? There are two doors for a reason. Besides, haven’t you ever heard the saying “keep to the right”? When we all abide by this fairly simple rule, we all win.
Why is it that when someone opens a door, we all converge and even change our direction just to go through it. And I will admit that I am guilty of the same offence I am complaining about. Does that make me a hypocrite? No, because I have admitted that I have a problem, and I am seeking help. My name is Shanda Johnes and I suffer from Wrong Door Syndrome, but I am a survivor!
As a part of my twelve step program to rid myself of this unhealthy habit, I am attempting to help other people recognize and admit that they have a problem. You don’t have to suffer anymore or make the people around you suffer from the uncomfortable act of trying to go through the door in opposing directions at the same time. You are strong enough to beat this addiction of going through the wrong door. I did it, and so can you! Seek help and no longer be a victim; be a survivor of Wrong Door Syndrome.
